Product Review: Lucy’s Cookies

April 3, 2010 by Lindsay Ingalls 4 Comments

"Dr. Lucy’s gluten-free cookies are made without milk, eggs, peanuts or tree nuts, but you’d never know it. They taste delicious! We use only high quality ingredients in our carefully controlled bakery to ensure our products meet our tight allergen testing criteria. And with 0mg cholesterol and 0g trans fat you can feel guilt-free about making them part of your healthy, balanced diet." Click Photo for Source

The hubby and I have been snacking on these bad boys over the past month and they are yummy! I have also given some to friends and family to try and everyone has come back telling me how much they enjoyed them.  There are 4 types of cookies: Chocolate Chip, Oatmeal Cookie, Cinnamon Thin and Sugar Cookie.  The great thing about these cookies is that you can find them in stores and Starbucks in individual sized packages.  You can also get small boxes of these cookies to share with the whole family.

The Chocolate Chip cookies are so delicious and are great for vegans as well as people with nut allergies as all of Lucy’s Cookies are nut free!  I really enjoyed these cookies because there was just the right amount of chocolate in every bite. Now my husband’s favorite is the Cinnamon Thin which is inspired by the snickerdoodle.  These cookies are filled with cinnamon and have a great crisp.

The Oatmeal Cookie was a favorite of mine because they were light and airy and reminiscent of childhood oatmeal cookies.  I also love that these ones are low in calories so they don’t disrupt my (usually) balanced diet.  Lastly, the Sugar Cookies are just like they say SUGAR- I found these ones to be the sweetest and a little too much for me but once I paired them with a cup of coffee it was a great balance of sweet and bitter.

Which of these cookies are calling your name? Have you tried any of Lucy’s cookies yet?

Review: Kathy's Krackers

Kathy’s Krackers – Kracker’s You Krave

Yummy yummy raw crackers!

Yummy yummy raw crackers!

This summer, Lindsay and I made an effort to eat a high raw diet. Part of the fun was experiencing different raw products. From raw cookies to raw crackers and raw nut mixes, there was so many different things to try.

Kathy’s Krackers are a healthy snack made of flaxseed and are raw and gluten free as well.

Kathy’s Kracker’s was kind enough to send us a sample of all three of the flavours they offer:

  • Salsa – The salsa crakers were my favourite by far. They captured the typical flavours of salsa perfectly. They had a very good spice level as well. They were spicy, but not unbearable by any means. We ate them plain, but website suggests adding avocado and other vegetables and I think this would compliment the flavours found in the cracker perfectly, I wish I had thought of that!
  • Savoury – These crackers are flavoured with bell pepper, tomatoes and garlic and have a very well balanced taste. I enjoyed these quite a bit. We ate these on their own, but I imagine they would be very good with hummus or a raw dip.
  • Apple & Cinnamon – If you are looking for a sweet snack, this is a great choice. They are sweetened with Stevia and have a very natural apple taste. It’s refreshing to have something that’s supposed to be apple flavoured that isn’t overly tart or artificial tasting. I think these would be a hit in school lunches as well.

These are a great snack for when you are on the go or when you are looking to build a more complete snack (as in the avacado and vegetables combo with the salsa crackers) as well. I would definitely recommend picking up a pack if you can!

Being made of all natural, raw ingredients there are plenty of health benefits that come along with eating Kathy’s Krackers. These can be found on the Kathy’s Krackers website. Health Benifits

The Inspired Cookie

July 31, 2009 by Lindsay Ingalls 1 Comment

Yesterday afternoon I went to my mail box and was delighted to see a small box addressed to me. I ran inside opened up the box and was excited to see 5 vegan cookies staring up at me. The cookies had arrived from The Inspired Cookie which makes 100% vegan and gluten free cookies.   What I love about these cookies is that there are no strange ingredients and they are made with 100% natural ingredients and are 70% organic and did I mention are VEGAN!

I received the following cookies:

Warmth- Mayan Hot Chocolate

Tranquility- Lemon Lavender

Rejuvenation- Chai Ginger Chunk

Abundance- Double Chocolate Ginger Chunk

So far I have only tried the Mayan Hot Chocolate but let me tell you this cookie is to die for. It has a great deep chocolate flavour and a hint of spice in the background it was delicious.

I will post more once I try the other cookies but if they are anything like the Mayan Hot Chocolate I am sure they are amazing as well.
