Summer Thirst Quencher: Mighty Leaf Tea

August 22, 2011 by Lindsay Ingalls 34 Comments

Over a twitter discussion over my absolute favorite tea- Mighty Leaf’s Orange Dulce I came into contact with Mighty Leaf about doing a review of their new iced teas. They sent me their four new iced tea flavors to try and let me tell you they don’t disappoint. These teas are just like Mighty Leaf’s small tea bags in giant form; so not only do they make delicious tea but what isn’t fun about a giant tea bag?

The  Mighty Leaf Iced Teas flavors:

o   Ginger Peach Iced Tea:  A blissful and lightly sweet black iced tea infused with sun-swelled peaches and delicate ginger.

o   Calypso Mango Iced Tea:  A sweet and cooling black iced tea with an indulging blend of South Indian black tea leaves, luscious mango, and tropical fruit.

o   Organic Black Iced Tea:  A flavorful black iced tea made of refreshingly rich and smooth South Indian organic black tea leaves hand-picked on the dewy slopes of the Nilgiri Mountains.

o   Sunburst Green Iced Tea:  A cool and vibrant iced green tea that delivers mountain-grown Chinese green tea leaves  brightened with the crisp taste of ripe oranges and sweet citrus. The lowest in caffeine among all four flavors.

Iced tea is my favorite summer beverage  however I don’t often make it at home because unless I have loose tea it is no fun to try to make tea from a handful of tiny tea bags.  Well Mighty Leaf makes things so much easier by having their giant iced tea bags.  All you have to do is steep the tea bag and then add ice. It’s never been easier to make iced tea at home.

I really enjoyed all of these flavors and once we started making them we haven’t been able to stop. My favorite is the Sunburst Green Iced Tea because it is fresh and crisp and perfect on a hot day.  Neil’s favorite is the Organic Black Iced Tea it is wonderfully dark and refreshing.

Summer might be coming to an end but it’s never too late to enjoy a nice cold crisp glass of iced tea.

*CLOSED* GIVEAWAYS:  Mighty Leaf is offering a giveaway of their Summer Brewing Kit.  One person can receive a box of each of their new teas, as well as the Bodum Iced Tea Pitcher which makes fresh iced tea in minutes.  The kit’s total value is approximately $60.  US Residents only. Goodbye July, Hello August

August 1, 2011 by Lindsay Ingalls Leave a Comment

Neil and I spent the last weekend in July enjoying an outdoor concert, a trip to the pool and working. Yes, working.  We have been gone almost every weekend this summer and August looks like it will be that way too so we tried to catch up on a number of different projects. I was going to take the weekend off from blogging but then I remembered that I needed to write my Thrive in 30 post, so that went up yesterday. Although we did work a bunch this weekend, we did find time to relax and enjoy ourselves since it was the weekend.

Friday: Coffee, Coffehouse Games & Live Music

Beautiful Coffee.

Game- Barista. Even though I worked a summer as a Barista, I failed horribly at this game.

Bright Eyes & The Mountain Goats at Shelburne Museum Concert on The Green

Saturday: Pool Party and A New Beverage

Relaxing by the Burlington Tennis Club Pool

New Beverage. It was meh okay, not great.

Sunday: Work Day, Raw Muesli & Iced Tea

Homemade Raw Muesli. It was good until I put a gross almond milk on it (different brand than I usually buy).

Yummy Iced Tea. I made two other flavors too.

How did you spend your last weekend of July 2011?

Now it’s August and I have been thinking about goals.

My August 2011 Goals:

1. Stick to Pre-Training Plan.  Two 30-45 minute runs and one mileage run per week PLUS two-three days of strength training and at least one day of yoga.

2. Meal Plan.  I have been really thrown off lately with our schedules and our CSA when it comes to meal planning and I want to get back on track.  I do so much better when our meals are planned out ahead of time.

3. Organize my kitchen.  I love to create recipes but lately it’s been difficult because I feel like our kitchen is so unorganized. It’s time to go through and reorganize and purge. I should rather say just get organized in general because I need to organize all the rooms in our house and my personal, blog and health coaching things.

4. Early to bed, Early to Rise. I would like to be in bed by 9pm to read and lights out by 10pm.  I would like to be up and out of bed by 5am.  I used to be in bed by 8:30p and up by 4:30/5a most mornings but since we have become more social I’ve been going to bed too late and getting up too late.  I am so much more productive in the morning too.

5. Read two books. This one goes with goal number four.

What are your goals for August?

Race Weekend Pt 1 & 2: Portsmouth

July 25, 2011 by Lindsay Ingalls 1 Comment

Friday after work Neil and I headed to Portsmouth, NH to meet up with my parents for the night. We got to the hotel and jumped on the treadmill for a 2 mile run before getting ready to go out for dinner. For dinner we decided to dine at The Portsmouth Brewery where we all started with a beer; I got the red, it was okay-not great.

While I looked over the menu we snacked on some chips and salsa:

For dinner I had to make a choice out of a few vegan friendly options:

Although both of these sounded good Neil and I both decided to get this:

The wrap was full of veggies and tempeh but I was not too impressed with the flavor, or rather lack there of. It was pretty bland so I added the salsa from my chips, which I didn’t eat since I had chips and salsa already.

Overall the food was okay and the beer was blah not my favorite. I probably wouldn’t return to The Portsmouth Brewery and  I definitely wouldn’t order a beer from there again.

Saturday morning we headed back into Portsmouth for breakfast at The Friendly Toast  a retro dinner with (over priced) breakfast. The restaurant has a fun 60’s/70’s theme and a huge menu but it’s a little expensive for my pocket.

Neil and I had tofu scramble, coffee and water for breakfast.  Overall the food was pretty good, the coffee was great and the water cold.  The Friendly Toast is a fun place but it is a little pricey and can get crazy busy.

After breakfast we did a little window shopping and then headed to the farmers market where I got the best black iced tea ever.

That concludes our visit to Portsmouth! Stay tuned for Portland and Race Re-cap posts!

DC Recap- Day 3

November 20, 2010 by Lindsay Ingalls Leave a Comment

Day 3 started off seeming like it was going to be good with breakfast at Le Pain Quotidien but boy were we wrong. First off our waiter was a bit of a condescending jerk.  Then when the food came it was mediocre- the salad was overly vinegary and the tofu scramble was extremely oily.  We were disappointed with the meal and then we waited for almost 30 minutes to get the bill …while the waiter passed by us over and over and over. Oh well one bad EXTREMELY overpriced meal over our entire vacation that’s not too bad. Ratings:

Amazing teas from Baked & Wired

After our disappointing breakfast we walked to Georgetown where we spent most of the morning enjoying the weather, the sites, and the shops.  I indulged in a sale at Lululemon and then we had lunch at Chipotle and loved it.
After enjoying our morning/early afternoon in Georgetown we headed to the Museum of Natural History.  Once the museum closed we headed to RFD for a drink before our dinner at Zaytinya one of Jose Andres restaurants.

We had the most amazing dinner at Zaytinya!  The concept around the restaurant is small plates that come out in waves.  We let our server know we were vegan and she let us know the vegan options (there were a good number).  We ordered 6 items as well as a yummy drink and turkish coffee.  I would go back here in a heart beat.

Warning these photos below are lacking in quality because they are from my iphone but the food was amazing.
