Get Your Greens Delivered! | organicgirl

Disclaimer: organicgirl provided me with a free trial of their greens delivery box.

Organic Girl Delivered

For months and months I have been dying to get my hands on some organicgirl juices. They have been flooding my instagram feed because apparently I follow a lot of healthy living bloggers who live in areas where these juices are readily available. So I have been waiting and waiting until the day when these juices would make their way to Oregon and guess what? I need not wait any longer because organicgirl will deliver my green juices, greens and their dressings straight to my front door. If you know me you know I love a good delivery service so of course if I can get my favorite greens delivered fresh to my door you’d better believe I’m going to check that service out.

Organic Girl Juice

So when it comes to delivery options you can go the juice route and get six juices delivered straight to your door or you can do like me and make sure you have some greens to munch on as well. There are a few different pre-created options that you can choose when it comes to the greens, juices and dressings mix but I love the customizable route.

In my box I received one of my top three organicgirl greens – PEPPERGREENS (romaine heart leaves and mache rosettes completing my top three), a new vegan dressing – pomegranate balsamic and four juices. First off PEPPERGREENS are amazing on everything so I served mine up with a big bowl of lentils but they are also pretty amazing with the pomegranate balsamic dressing (let me know if you’d like to see a few salad ideas).

Organic Girl - Delivery

Let’s get down to the reason you are really here – the juices. I know you’ve been wondering about them and do they really live up to the hype? I have to say YES. I was all about the Lemon-Aid and the Kale Rules. I’ll be honeset I’m not super not on beets but if you are a beet lover you’d love the Beet Boost. I’ve yet to try the Spicy Tomato but I’m taking it along with us this weekend on our camping trip along with other fixings for a camping Bloody Mary.

So overall I’d give this service a big double thumbs up.

Now if they would only start delivering cupcakes with their green juices…

December 26, 2010 by Lindsay Ingalls 2 Comments

This Christmas Eve we had my parents over for a little holiday party with drinks and appetizers. There was also a round of Scattergories, a photo shoot and a movie before heading to bed to wait for Santa to arrive.

Roasted Artichoke Salad: Preheat oven to 400F. Toss 1 package of frozen artichoke hearts that have been defrosted with 1 tablespoon of olive oil, 1 tsp salt and 1/2 tsp pepper. Roast for 25 minutes. Whisk together the dressing for the salad: 2 tablespoons white wine vinegar, 1/4 cup olive oil, 2 tsp dijon mustard, and 1 tsp agave. Toss dressing with warm artichoke hearts and 1 tablespoon of capers; serve room temperature.

Chocolate Bock Gingerbread Cupcakes

December 24, 2010 by Lindsay Ingalls 1 Comment

To me it really doesn’t seem like Christmas without gingerbread.  We usually make gingerbread cookies or gingersnaps, which I know isn’t the same as gingerbread but we like ginger something at Christmas.  This year I decided to make cupcakes but not just any cupcakes these ones have beer in them, Chocolate Bock to be exact.  The Chocolate Bock is a dark beer that is slightly sweet.

Makes 18 cupcakes

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup vegan margarine (Earth Balance)
  • 1 cup raw sugar
  • 3 “eggs” (I used Egg Replacer)
  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 2 tsp ground ginger
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp cloves
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • 1 cup molasses
  • 1 cup Chocolate Bock or other dark beer (stout or dark bock would work best)

Directions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350F and line a 12 cupcake pan and a 6 cupcake pan with cupcake liners.
  2. In a stand mixer or large bowl with an electric beater, cream together the margarine and raw sugar.  Beat in the “eggs” until combined.
  3. In a medium bowl, sift together the flour, ginger, baking soda, cinnamon, salt, cloves, and nutmeg.
  4. In a another medium bowl combine the molasses and beer and stir to dissolve.
  5. Add the dry ingredients and beer mixture alternately to the margarine mixture, beating after the addition of each.
  6. Fill the cupcake liners until about 3/4 full and bake for 20-22 minutes until lightly browned and when a tooth pick is inserted it comes out clean.
  7. Remove from the oven and let cool for 5 minutes in the pan and then remove and continue to cool on a wire rack. Sprinkle with powdered sugar, frost with vanilla frosting or glaze with my orange spice glaze (recipe below).

Orange Spice Glaze

Ingredients:

  • 1 box of lite silken tofu (I used mori-nu)
  • zest and juice of 1 medium orange
  • 1/4 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/8 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/8 tsp ginger
  • 1.5 cups powdered sugar

Directions:

  1. Place all ingredients in the blender and blend until smooth.
