As many of you know I live with somewhat of a coffee snob so we have lots of coffee paraphernalia around our house and I do a lot of coffee related gift shopping. These are a few of my husband and my favorite coffee related items.

1. Our Aeropress is one of our favorite coffee makers. It makes a pretty amazing Americano and is super quick and easy to make a single cup of coffee.
2. Kettle- the kettle featured above is one my favorite items that I have purchased this year. It is a Japanese kettle that is meant for preparing amazing coffee.
3. I actually haven’t ever used this book but it is a favorite of my husbands.
4. These mugs are our absolute favorite. We have two and I am dying to buy more but Healthy Living (our local natural food store) stopped caring them -boo!
5. Kicking Horse- we have lots of favorite coffees but this is one of my all time favorites.

Lets just say that something big occurred this past weekend and I can’t divulge any of the details for a few more weeks but it is over taking my personal life right now. On top of that we have a fussy baby who is teething and super clingy which makes it challenging for me to work on things that I want/need to do because she wants to be held and Neil is crazy busy at work (per usual). I am hoping that things will settle down a little bit by this weekend so I can work on all these posts I have in my head but until then I’ll just keep you guessing.
Today I am thankful for my wonderful family most of all my amazing, hardworking, supportive and caring husband and my wonderful little bundle of joy, Edith.
Today we are spending the morning/afternoon with family and then heading home to have a wonderful vegan feast with two (omnivore) friends. Hope you enjoy your day!
I grew up in a house where you could find a game on the TV most nights of the week. My parents are huge fans of all sports so you could find them watching the Yankees in the summer, the Giants in the fall, the Celtics and UCONN Girls Basketball in the winter and of course some hockey, tennis, and the Olympics mixed in over the year.
Although I don’t share their same enthusiasm, especially my dad’s, for sports I am a huge fan of the Yankees. Funny thing is until Neil and I started dating I used to always root for the opposite team of who was playing the Yankees (unless of course they were playing the Red Sox and then I was all about the Yankees). My opposition to the Yankees was more for the fun in picking the opposite team of my dad, not for my dislike for the Yankees. Once Neil and I started dating I got more into actually watching baseball since he is a huge fan. I have learned more of the game and really love to watch it. I even went to my first Yankees game two years ago (wow time flies I had to go to my FB photo album to check the date).
With all the SportsFreaks in my family I end up buying lots of sports centric gifts for holidays and birthdays. It actually makes things pretty easy because even though you’d think that they have everything already, but often clothes need to be replaced and of course calendars are a yearly thing so they are a great gift.
This year I am giving my dad an early Christmas present, his very own Giants calendar from SportsFreak365. The great thing about this calendar is that I was able to pick the images and the players that I wanted to include in the calendar. Well actually I called my dad to ask who his favorite players were because honestly I know nothing about football, it’s probably my least favorite sport but he is a huge fan so it’s a perfect gift.
What is your favorite sport? Are you a SportsFreak? Will you be giving sports related gifts this year?
Showing off your team spirit has never been easier! Whatever team you root for and whatever sport they play, find the gear you need at SportsFreak365.com. I was selected for participation in this campaign as a member of Clever Girls Collective.
Every December Neil and I take a trip to the mall and choose a child from the giving tree to buy a gift. The card has the gender, age and an item the child wants/needs. This is a tradition that I started with my mom when I was a child and Neil and I have continued the tradition since we started dating. Now that we have Edith this is a tradition that we plan to continue and have her participate in as well.
In a few weeks Neil, Edith and I will head to the mall, choose a child from the tree and shop for a gift. The one thing that will be different this year however is that you can help determine how much we will spend on the gift. All you have to do is take the survey below. For every person who completes the feedback survey we will put $1 towards the gift.
So in exchange for two minutes (or less) of your time your survey response can count towards a $1 donation for a child in need this holiday season.
I know I have had ad number of surveys on the blog over the years but with all these changes that have occurred in the last few months I feel like I need to do another on. I wasn’t sure what role the blog would play in my life once Edith arrived and how or even if I would want to keep up with it, but now here we are four and half months later and I realize I love having this blog because it is an outlet for me. However, I have found that I have lost a little bit of direction and what I should be posting here versus on Naturally Family. So now this why I am calling out to you to help give me a little bit of direction as to what you want to read.
I don’t discuss politics on the blog for obvious reasons but no matter what your political views are get out there today and vote! Your vote is your voice let it be heard!
I was going to vote this morning but E decided to get up at 4am (I blame daylight savings) so I was more focused on getting a little rest and coffee in me before Neil left. I figured I’d go when Neil got home tonight because we are a one car family and he was taking the car to work. Then I got to thinking it’s only 3.6 miles round trip to the polling station, maybe I could just walk. I decided to take the chance that E might fuss the whole way but I was going to go (and good thing I did because Neil’s prospects of arriving home in time for me to vote is looking grim). So E and I walked…err I walked the 3.6 miles with E in the Ergo. The walk was amazing! E slept for 70% of it, the sun was shinning and absolutely no fussing!
Anyways if E and I can walk 3.6 miles to vote you can get out and vote too!
Our final day in Montreal started out with a cranky baby who wanted to eat and eat and eat so it took longer to get the day started than we had hoped but what can you do? Finally by around 11:15am we were able to get E in the Boba carrier and head out for a little walking and window shopping.
After about an 30 minutes E had finally fallen asleep so we walked around for a bit longer and then decided to head to Aux Vivres for one last lunch. It was so nice to actually go to the restaurant to eat since the last two times we ate Aux Vivres we had take out.
We started out our meal with a yummy VÉGÉ-DÉLICE juice (tomato carrot, beet, cucumber and spices) and an order of chapati with their famous veggie butter. I really want to try and recreate this veggie butter at home- does anyone know whats in it?
For our meals Neil and I debated over the amazing sandwiches, the yummy Kosmos plate we had ordered Saturday and the bowls. In the end we both decided to go with bowls; Thai bowl for him and Bouddha bowl for me. I apologize for iPhone photos for some reason we didn’t really take the camera out all weekend- huge fail on our part.
Thai Bowl: steamed bok choy, pickled carrot & daikon, peanuts, toasted sesame seeds, shredded carrot, coriander with Thai peanut sauce and grilled tempeh
After lunch we headed back to the car to start making our way home. We made one pit stop at the beer store to pick up a variety of Quebec beers that we can find at home including a pumpkin beer for our pumpkin beer tasting party next week.
The trip home was fairly easy with only two stops to nurse and the border was fast and easy. The only trouble we have had has been transitioning back to our normal routine. I love vacations, small and large, but I hate coming home especially during the work week; I find it a challenge to get back into the groove and by the time I do it’s the weekend again!
