This weekend started out bright, early and cold at Neil’s first 10k of the season.
Promptly following his successful race we headed to Magnolia Bistro where we sipped super spicy delicious vegan bloody mary’s (virgin for me)…
And brunched- I ordered a bunch of my favorite sides- SO GOOD!
Following brunch we headed to Michael’s to pick up a few necessary art supplies to complete our nursery art work.
Then it was over to Healthy Living Market where I spotted their electric car charging station and we picked up a few ingredients for meals this weekend.
The remainder of the weekend was spent doing laundry and lounging on the couch with this guy:
We did however manage to peel ourselves off the couch on Sunday and got out for a 2.25 mile walk.
This weekend I was hopping to be doing a lot of this:
Cooking that is, not the camping part.
I was also hoping to
to catch up on my blog reading
work on some new blog posts
take a trip to the farmers market to get a vegan cupcake <–attempted this but we arrived too late and she was sold out!
Instead I have spent most of the weekend doing this:
I woke up Saturday morning feeling tired out and ridiculously congested. Neil and I got out of the house for a little bit yesterday but after lunch and a few errands I needed to go home and take a nap aka sleep for 2 hours, eat dinner and go back to bed.
This morning I was hoping after resting, hydrating, and neti potting yesterday that I would magically be feeling better today but well I think I’m actually more congested!! I was planning on going to yoga today but since I can’t breath out of my nose I think I will put it off until Tuesday and spend today again resting, hydrating, and neti potting. That being said there may not be a Recipe of the Week this Monday but I will hopefully have one to you later in the week!
What do you do when your weekend plans go south? Do you have any pregnancy safe holistic methods to combat allergies/congestion?
Over the last 9 days we have traveled to Boston, Raleigh-Durham, Myrtle Beach and Charleston. It was wonderful to get away and relax somewhere warmer but we are both so glad to be home and back in our own bed. Last night we arrived home and promptly planted ourselves on the couch with a bowl of spaghetti and caught up on Modern Family.
Today we plan on doing a little more relaxing (this pregnant lady is tired out) and I hope to conquer the mess of dirty vacation clothes. I’ll be back to regular blogging tomorrow but until then here is a photo re-cap of our trip!
What a nice surprise to see my blog nominated for “Best Healthy Cooking Blog” on apartment therapy’s 2012 ‘the homies’ awards! The list is long and filled with tons of wonderful blogs, I feel so lucky to be e included among them. You can vote for my blog here until March 2nd at 11:59PM EST , if you’d like. I would love your support. And thank you to whoever nominated me!
Let yourself be silently drawn by the stronger pull of what you really love.

Neil and I have had a wonderful afternoon together that started with a late lunch at Stone Soup where we shared a vegan roasted tofu sandwich (to die for) and the salad bar. We then took a quick pop into Isabean, a children’s clothing and toy store, where I feel in love with a few baby items but I restrained myself from buying anything (today anyways).
After our lunch we came home and I relaxed for a bit and Neil finished up working. Once he finished it was time to get our walk on, it was beautiful out so we did our favorite 2.5 mile loop. We were hopping to get a few nice sunset shots but unfortunately the clouds where in our way.
Mr. Photographer then decided to do a little photo shoot…
and of course I had to get one of him too before the sun went down.
Now we are back from our walk and I’m sipping a seltzer and orange juice, I know I’m wild, and am patiently waiting for the Hubz to prepare things so we can make this delicious pizza below.
This photo is from last week because trust me I am so hungry right now there is now way that I am taking the time to take new photos of the same type of pizza. The one above taste like artichoke dip on pizza and it is mouth-wateringly delicious.
Sauteed Spinach (this won’t be on tonight’s pizza because we’re out)
Artichoke hearts
Nutritional Yeast
Neil is also making a second pizza with arugula, garlic olive oil, cherry tomatoes and finished with a sprinkle of nutritional yeast and a squeeze of lemon juice.
