IMG_4613 Thinking about:  Cleaning and unpacking. Yay that’s right we have been here two months today and still aren’t fully unpacked. Wondering how I am going to do at the Saturday race especially since I’ve only back to running for 3 weeks. I am thinking about blogging; improving my blog, posts to write and everything else that goes with it. (Finally) finishing my babywearing test.

Feeling: Anxious. Overwhelmed.

Watching: Lately I have been back to watching Supernatural; mostly on my phone in bed on those ever to frequent nights lately when Edith won’t sleep unless I am in the room with her, so 8am bedtime for me it is. Neil and I have also been watching The Black List which I am really getting into and we have started to watch Top Chef.

Reading: Nothing. I still have Orange Is The New Black to finish and I have a mile long list of other books I’d like to read.

Looking forward to: The Ugly Sweater Run on Saturday- despite knowing how slow I am going to be I am looking forward to running it with Edith and Neil especially after this terrible week we have had. I am also looking forward to date night next week.

Making me happy: How successful I have been with the 12WBT plan. My amazing husband and crazy and loveable child.

Thinking about:  Coffee (always). Going to bed. I’m tired but our little one is wild tonight and I’m not sure why either. We took her out on a long walk (part of which she walked), we laughed, ran around and did a variety of energy draining activities but yet she is till awake. I’m also thinking about the 30 blog posts I plan to write and the 10 freelance articles that are pending. Lots on my mind right now.

Feeling: Tired out. Overwhelmed. Happy. Grateful.

Watching: Lately we have been catching up on Top Chef Masters and I have been watching one of my guilty pleasures Switched at Birth on Netflix. Oh and I’m always watching The Office –> for fellow fans there is a new season on Netflix now!

Reading: I am reading Orange Is The New Black- I couldn’t quite get into the show but the book is really good so far. I think I’ll give the show another chance once I finish the book.

Looking forward to: Being completely unpacked, although that could be weeks. I am also looking forward to this weekend because I am hoping we do some sort of Fall activity.

Making me happy: My hardworking husband and my crazy kid. If you are interested in Edith and her crazy antics you should check out the latest Instagram videos and posts –> here

Lately. 9.2.13

IMG_3324

Instead of my usual installment of Currently I thought I would do a Lately post instead. We have been busy, busy, busy over the past two weeks and it seems that we have a busy month ahead of us but more on that later.

Happenings: Last week I finally took the plunge and decided to take an intensive four day course to become a Certified Babywearing Educator.  I completed all four days and came out learning more than I could have imagined and after I finish my two take home tests I will (hopefully) be fully certified!

Adventures: We went for a long weekend away following a crazy week of classes. I wish that I hadn’t had both back to back because it would have been nice not to be exhausted for our trip but oh well! We spent the weekend at the Sou’Wester Lodge in Seaview, WA. We stayed in a vintage camper, enjoyed a mostly electronics free weekend, and spent a lot of time at the beach.

Food: The best thing I have eaten lately was the veggie burger from Bad Vegan in Astoria, OR. Seriously so good! It was basically a vegan Big Mac.

(BIG) News: We are moving!! Not out of state just closer to Neil’s work. Right now he commutes 2-3 hours per day and this move will bring us closer to our favorite hangouts and it will cut Neil’s daily commute in half if not more!

What have you been up to lately?

Thinking about:  COFFEE. Pancakes. Doughnuts. How I wish I was still sleeping. How I should have gone to yoga this morning but 5:15am came too early. How much I need to do this weekend to prepare for the week ahead. How I can’t believe next week another birthday will come and go.

Feeling: Exhausted, overwhelmed and in need of a good sweat session.

Watching: Okay now comes my embarrassing confession. I have been watching The Vineyard which is pretty much like the East Coast summer version of Laguna Beach. I know, I know super lame but hey sometimes moms need a mindless distraction. I also have been watching Supernatural on Netflix- side note I came across someone on Instagram who named their son Dean after Dean Winchester.

Reading: So I finally brought the Kindle back out and am finally finishing Devil In the White City.  I am also trying to decide what book our book club will read first – any suggestions?

Looking forward to: The weekend! I have yoga on the agenda for Saturday and Sunday and we have a family happy hour on Saturday. I am also looking forward to next week because I have my Babywearing Educator Certification course, my birthday and a family getaway.

Making me happy: Knowing that we can finally start looking for a new place to live- East Side here we come!

Coffee

Thinking about: So many things. My mind is full right now with posts I’d like to write, training plans I’d like to try, books I’d like to read, places I’d like to go. Oh and the biggest thing is Edith turning one. Yes, one. This Tuesday my baby will be a year old and I have really been reflecting on the past year and thinking about the years ahead for us. I’m hoping that once our guests leave I’ll have some time to sit down, relax and regroup because I am over full right now.

Feeling: exhausted. anxious. happy to have an amazing husband and daughter.

Watching: We have been watching a lot of the Yankees in our house right now.  It’s so weird to watch the game after the fact (we have MLB TV on our Roku).  We have to be careful not to catch anything on social media that might ruin the game for us, but this happens so often we don’t even bother watching the game. I don’t know why but we have lucked out the past few days.  Neil and I have also been catching up on a few shows (Criminal Minds and Rizzoli & Isles) after about two months of watching little to know evening TV.

Reading: I tried reading The Complete Idiots Guide to Vegan Eating For Kids but it was so terrible that I only got through the first four chapters before thumbing through and realizing the book is crap. Yes crap. There are so many other books that provide better information as well as better sample meal ideas.

Looking forward to: Heading to VA for a wedding! This will be our second cross country trip with Edith, although Neil’s first and my first with Edith as an err… toddler (I don’t even want to say it, she is my baby and my baby forever right?) I’m also looking forward to getting back to a regular routine since the past few weeks have been crazy with Fitbloggin and our guests being here.

Making me happy: Neil and Edith. They are the light in my life. Seriously so happy with them.

Thinking about: Our trip to Seattle this weekend.  We are going on our first trip to Seattle and I feel so unprepared. Before Edith I used to spend hours researching our destinations but these days I’m lucky if I can find even an hour or two to look up a few things to do and places to eat. That being said please send me your suggestions. oh yeah and i’m also wondering if it’s bed time yet. also if it is too late to have coffee.

Feeling: Tired. Proud of myself for getting in a HIIT workout today even though I wanted to sit on the couch and relax. Full of love for my silly little girl and my amazing husband.

Watching: The Office.  Honestly it’s embarrassing how many times I have watched the entire series.  I can watch it over and over and over again. My favorite episodes are Gay Witch Hunt, Threat Level Midnight and Product Recall. Bears. Beets. Battlestar Galatica.

Reading: I am almost done The Cool Impossible . I am loving this book and everytime I pick it up I just want to go out and run.  It is like I am getting a personal coaching session from Eric Orton.

Looking forward to: getting away this weekend! We are celebrating our 5th wedding anniversary this weekend with a little family trip to Seattle. I am also looking forward to parents night out (local swap and play babysits) in June and Fitbloggin!

Making me happy: As always Neil and Edith.  I love to spend time with these two people. This weekend was so much fun we went to the market, out to eat and explored a few new neighborhoods.  Also making me happy is meeting new people and making new friends.  So happy that we moved to Portland. Oh and Neil is making me so happy because we starts a full time job next week (he is contracting at Nike right now).

Thinking about: How we didn’t take any photos from this weekend. Not one on Saturday or Sunday. Along with that thinking about how I only have two more days and there is no way I am going to accomplish April’s goal with nearly 19 or so miles to go. Oh, and how much I would love to be on vacation somewhere warm and relaxing right now.

Feeling: proud of myself for getting out today and running 6.5 miles.  I woke up not feeling too hot (still don’t) and after debating whether I should run or not I decided to go and at least try running and I felt amazing so I ran further than I expected.

Watching: Fringe. Neil and I are just starting it, currently on episode 4, and so far it’s just okay.  It’s not terrible but also not my favorite but I am going to give it a chance because Joshua Jackson brings me back to the days when I used to sneak watching Dawson’s Creek. One thing that is crazy awful is all of the 3-D text- please tell me they eventually do away with that I feel like I am watching a bad high school power point presentation.

Reading: I am almost done Wild by Cheryl Strayed.  I actually started reading it for last months mom group book club night but didn’t finish it in time, however my goal for April was to read one new book so I am working through the last 100 pages so that I can accomplish this goal.  The book is really amazing and now I want to go hiking more than ever. Has anyone else read it?

Looking forward to: getting away next month.  We are taking a little family trip to Seattle for our 5th wedding anniversary.

Making me happy: Neil and Edith. Thinking about all of the activities that we will be able to get out and do this summer.  All the exploring of our new home that we have yet to do. Also knowing that I have a ton of meals prepared and ready to go for this week.
